Nestled in the Dorset countryside is one of my newest discoveries and subsequently one of my favourite brands, Mulberry & Hare.
Producing stunning, quintessentially British homewares, Mulberry & Hare have become a firm favourite of mine and the perfect go-to site for gifts for all occasions. With a variety of prints, platters and coasters to chose from, it will be impossible to decide on just one design!
It’s fair to say we have been spoilt this year with glorious summer days that are extending into balmy, pleasant summer evenings. Breakfasts eaten alfresco, barbecues have been in full swing, afternoon tea relocated into the garden or maybe a chilled glass of bubbles consumed whilst soaking up the rays. There are numerous ways we have been enjoying the warm, British weather this year, most of which involve eating and drinking!
Although the founder of Mulberry & Hare, Jessica, started with prints encapsulating the countryside around her, her talent and flair soon extended into a gorgeous range of stoneware.
The natural, Turkish, travertine stone has been glazed to ensure it withstands heat and stays waterproof during use, which makes it perfect for a multitude of uses. Each item is hand painted and finished with a gorgeous countryside theme.
I was super excited to arrive home recently to a box, inside I could see a glimmer of rich, burgundy tissue paper with the Mulberry & Hare logo peeking out! Like a child at Christmas I tore open the tissue paper to reveal one of the new designs for this summer.
The 20x20cm (approx) platter is teeming with busy little bees in varying sizes. The vibrant bright yellow adorning each bee, brings a touch of summer to the slightly more dreary weather that has crept in. The small rubber feet in the underside protect any precious surfaces from scratches and also add a bit of friction and stability to stop the platter sliding off from a slippery or shiny surface.
It is of ample size to host several slices of toast, butter and preserve for breakfast, display home made quiche for lunch or cheese and biscuits for an after dinner treat. Extending further into the evening or treating yourself to a work free afternoon, it is also ideal to protect tables from the damp, chilled base of a bottle of bubbles and glasses!
I love this design so much I’m off to order the matching coasters now!
